Thank God for the Recorder, Dad in that sweet voice one of my old school pal,s is having a party can you run us their and can you return for us . Well no change always thought I was her private taxi . So no chance of sitting watching Moss and having a beer . I watched it later cant imagine Schuey being the perfect sportsman which he was not . Must be my age but I thought race drivers and the race far better then than now .As for the party all the others from her school never turned up and the lad who invited her stood chatting to his rugby mates , I picked them up at 11pm after a get me out of here quick dad phone call. They sat in the rear of the car calling each other darling , yuk, I am becoming an old git. Jackie Stewart on tonight looking forward to it.

I loved the programme about Sir Stirling Moss. Also hugely envious of Patrick Stewart being able to drive the Vanwall

The Vanwall looked moderately terrifying to drive - hugely fast but vague handling.

Proper vintage racers require real nerve to drive. I bought a 1959 racer a few years ago and sold it after a couple of years, it was simply too scary!

I loved the programme, I noted though Sterling didn't bother with seat belts diving the gullwing

I remember reading about that car. Was it sold at Goodwood a few years ago?

Yes - I bought it at the Bonhams auction at Goodwood after a particularly cheerful lunch.

Must have been hairy to drive? Wasn't it based on a 70s DBS?

Gorgeous looking thing though.

(DB2R was possibly my favourite shaped car from that era - far nicer than a C Type IMHO)
