Years ago my neighbour had a paraffin heater placed under the engine bay. He had an old Ford Popular and there was no antifreeze. It seemed to work ok. I think the heater was specifically designed for this purpose. My dad had one.... I remember it clearly..... He also had an Austin Atlantic. Very unusual car. I've still got a couple....but never used them
