Dear all,

First of all a HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ALL THE BEST FOR 2013!

Thanks to the great year end weather conditions I drove my babe a couple of hundreds kilometer the last days (still in running-in mode - pic attached ) and located a very loud metallic noise by appling the brakes.

It only occurs when I push the brake pedal not to hard an at the end of the braking cycle; but then, it is that incredible metallic loud that there is no need for a horn ...

Are there any thoughts my friends or ideas how to fix it?

Could you have some grit caught in the calipers I wonder?

Lovely car. Looks fantastic. Are you happy with the manual instead of the automatic now that you have used it?

No idea on the brake noise. I think you need a trip to the dealer if it is as loud as that. I could be a stone caught in the calliper but it could also be something more serious and you don't want to create any damage to the disk or the calliper.

Looks great! Have those brakes checked ASAP though. Enjoy!

hi Rene, is this a CH car or an import from UK? Maybe that's why you're not going straight to the dealer? If from UK i would think any trusted garage could help with brakes. As your ownership develops though you'll need to find a Morgan expert - there are a lot of tricks to these beasts. The UK dealers (i imported from Brands Hatch) know their way around all the eccentricities.

Stunning looking car....but get the brakes checked.

Mean looking motor. I would agree with above and check for grit.

Alot of cars suffer from 'harmonics' on the brakes ... look at a Range Rover they have large detuners attached to the brake caliper.

if there isnt a problem with a particular model you are just unlucky to get a noise... generally when pads are renewed at a garage they will put a little smear of 'copperslip' grease on the back of the pad ...this stops any noise coming from the pad when the brake caliper piston is just touching it.

Ask the local garage to check the brakes to make sure all is in order ...and no doubt they will put a bit of copperslip on the back of the pads.

My plus 8 is just the same on the near near side front. I drove a factory plus 8 just before Christmas and that was worse than mine.

Copper grease will help but as the brakes wear in with use, it disappear.

I just brake with a firm foot to avoid it

Peter, after the first 500 km I love the manual gear box :)) - it is so much more precise than in my previous Roadster Series II and it well matches the character of the V8; for me it is really a perfect setup.
