Hi Shooter, Sorry, I may have missed a chapter. Did you encounter a problem with your car or you just undertook a renovation ? Cheers from an Aero Man who does not drive his aero for the time being....

Hi Shooter, Sorry, I may have missed a chapter. Did you encounter a problem with your car or you just undertook a renovation ? Cheers from an Aero Man who does not drive his aero for the time being.... Just a little renovation! Managed to damage the chassis (turn out that it is only cosmetic rather than structural but couldn't determine that without removing the chassis). So, I now have a spare, with some cosmetic damage which is handy given that it is very difficult, if not impossible to get Radshape to make another. So, New Chassis and to be sure, all new suspension, steering rack hubs, rose-joints etc. At the same time, some additional renovations, repaint to deal with the stone chips. The disadvantage of the textured matt black paint is two-fold, first, it is SUBSTANTIALLY more than any other paint per litre because of the various additives and second, you really have to paint the complete panel to do a decent job. So, everything has been repainted except the bonnet and boot lid and the doors. I may get them done once I've had time to look at the car properly in different lighting conditions. Have also put in a new windscreen as the old one had to come out for the new paint and it had some chips. A new dash (the dash is a little delicate if it takes a knock from a ladies handbag getting in for instance!) New carpets, some retrimming of the seats and added the heated seat option at the same time. Wheels back to the manufacturer for a thorough refurb. New wiper arms as the black coating had started to fail. I've also decided to come into the 21st century with the audio and so have internet/gps/iphone/various app etc all in the head unit along with a new amp and sub and speakers etc. I'm sure there are things I've forgotton that have been done but it will just be nice to get out driving again.

So how did you get a new chassis? If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost? Ouch in advance.
Congratulations though - that's a labour of love and good to know such things can be done.

I haven't had the final bill yet but parts are around £20,000 plus the dreaded vat. I would guess with the chassis accounting for about half.
I am expecting the total to come in at around £40,000 for parts and labour.

Congratulations Ian, glad to hear that you're back on the road. You must have missed it? Cheers Brian Hi Brian, Definitely missed it but I have had the Ferrari project and that became my everyday car for a little while until recently when I acquired a couple of BMW's. I expect that it will be spring by the time the last few things are finished and I am out driving it again. Perhaps I will drive to Geneva rather than fly to give it a nice runout!
