And if no mains power you can get solar panels that will charge the battery.

I think leaving it hooked up may help, once I free the starter I will try a spell of doing that.

Good point John. Though the price of decent capacity solar chargers is rather high - I guess in the long run they will recoup the extra... That's why we have them on the roof

Though my solar PV output has sucked in 2013 till the last 2 days. The last FIT payment was half of 2012
