I would love the opportunity to get hold of a council and rip through it streamlining their output and maximising efficiency. I'm so sure I (and many many others) could do a better job
Here Here,...2 friends i cycle and Drink with work for a N/E Council, one works in the capacity as a Health and Safety officer, the other, Head of Departmental for Disabled Conversions.
The stories they tell me is outragous, even as an employee of such an originsation they themselves can't believe the red tape they have to get through to complete some works.
The particular Guy who works in the Conversion Department receives a budget of £4m per annum and frequently suggests if he allowed me to control the spend how better the funds would be used, UNBELIEVABLE
Problems they face.
There own staff suing them
Time absent for sick leave
Several personel having to sign documents for 1 x pair of safety shoes
Tenants are allowed to Sue the Council for late completion and inconvenience caused (even when they are receiving the work F.O.C under such schemes)
Car Parking fines paid out for Council run vehicles parked in the wrong location whilst working on site.
Finally the same person who informs me of this is on a salary in excess of £42.000 pa and openly confesses if they take all his holiday entitlement and flexy time allowance he only is required to work 37 weeks out of 52.
OH
and finally he and another friend of ours who is Selfemployed have recently joined the Gym which is part of all the facilities you can use throughout the N/E
Council employees membership is £29 pcm
Self employed Guy is £35.00 but he is not allowed in any of the specific classes that specialise in certain training as is the council worker.
