Quicksilver, the motor looks very shiny. Roll on Monday and hopefully better weather.
I was given the tip regarding the bonnet catches, if possible using both hands
Put fingers under bonnet and using your palms squeeze down on the bonnet catches, rear one first. Hope that helps.

She does need to get a bit dirty - but the sleet, salt and spray on the roads today would have made a bit too much mess on day one of ownership. Thanks for the tip about the bonnet catches - I did use that technique but still found them very difficult. They are probably stiff and need to loosen up a bit.

The bonnet catches will loosen up with use. Looks like you have the M-K column stalks fitted...very nice!

Mine were very stiff - still are - but releasing the catches closer to the rear first seems the way. It's looking good.

Open the bonnets and apply a quick squirt of chain lube into the mechanisms; work the catches a few times.
Improved mine immensely.

Thanks everyone for advice on the bonnet catches. I will try a drop of oil if the tightness persists. Jay, the centre stalk and steering column were sourced by Richard Thorne from Morgan Park in Hamburg. They look great and I am very pleased with them. The Morgan Park version looks exactly the same as the MK version so I wonder if he makes them for Morgan Park. MK also do an alternative version with leather gaiters. You do lose the intermittent wipe function from the stalk (my dealer has ordered a button to go beneath the dash which will restore that function). The best steering column/ centre stalk is apparently made by Merz and Pabst - although I can find no information on this from their website and I have heard it is horrendously expensive. http://www.morganpark.de/uploads/media/Lenkstockhebel_Allg._Information.pdf

Those stalks do look very nice.... I wonder how difficult they'd be to fit? I'd be happy to leave my leather covered cowl as is.

Looking at M-K's website it says that the stalks will fit with the standard plastic cowl so you shouldn't have any problems. I seem to recall a photo of the stalks without the cowl and it looked as though M-k uses the standard plastic switch base which screws to the steering column. I will probably be tempted at some stage when I make a new dash.

My MK stalks look exactly the same as Quicksilver's Morgan Park ones. I too would recommend the knurled finish rather than the smooth ends if you drive wearing gloves. Oh, and you do indeed lose the intermittent wipe function with the MK conversion - so there is a little more manual use of the control needed should you encounter spitting rain, but this is an easy 'flick' and soon becomes unconscious.
