And Simon's point stands - a car thats done a few miles will have had whatever is going to go wrong sorted out. A car that has done a low mileage and done only short trips in it's life could reveal a host of issues as soon as you start using it in other ways (e.g. a tour of Europe / trip to the North Pole etc)..

Clearly your comment about driving an Aero to the North Pole is aimed at me personally.

As you know I've just done a 1300 mile drive almost to Lapland in a low mileage well maintained Aero.,

with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Although I'm new to the Forum, I'm an engineer to trade, I know from experience that cars with round the world plus mileage have generally more wear than a lower mileage vehicle.

Higher mileage may equal more wear but also means, as as been stated many many times, more Iikelihood of fewer issues.

Oh, and I'm an Engineer too! (what is it with having to state a profession recently??).

As such, there is a balance. I sold my series 2 with 48k miles which was pretty sorted. Some items may have been coming up for replacement (though Aeros, like all Morgans are pretty light so wear is comparitively less than in other vehicles).

And as Simon has alluded there is a great series 4 car (10k miles) coming on the market very soon at a price certainly starting with a 5 however nearer £60k than £50k if you're interested?

Hello, well I'm not an engineer and only a lowly salesman, but I totally agree with Mr Tony and Boshly. Morgans are cars that like TLC, and mileage is pretty irrelevant. My S1 has >40000 miles, and is in nearly mint condition and far better than some Aero 8s I've seen with less than 10000 miles which had either corrosion issues or weathered interiors.

So yes buy on condition.

Yep I've come across the low mileage vs high mileage cars many times when looking at performance cars. Add in to the mix how the car has been driven in those miles, also makes a big difference.

I think it's more important a car is used on a regular basis, to a point where the engine, transmission etc have oils up to temperature, before stressing the car.

Good to hear that there is a mix of views though, as at last it means whichever car I end up will hopefully appeal to someone if/when it comes round to resale.

Should you have any problems with your eventual purchase you just post the problem on here and these guys diagnose it for you, seriously the knowledge on this site is mind blowing!

Would have to be an exceptional car with perfect history for me to consider upping budget for a 4, but never say never. Taking onboard the good advice from all so far, I'll be buying on condition rather than year / miles.
