Re: mpg on an Aeromax, I can get a touch over 360 miles on a tank depending on how brave I am in letting the computer get close to '0% remaining'. The most fuel I have been able to put in is 53 litres so the tank is about 12 (English) gallons - I estimate that mpg is just over 30. That said, I usually have one of my kids in the car so it is driven more sedately than some others on here.  FWIW, this mileage is based an auto car normally driven in auto mode. Whilst the 'manual' mode is huge fun and transforms the car into a bit of a monster, I'm usually content to cruise - it seems to suit the experience better. Incidentally, the colour of Rich's car is I think Liquid Metal (grey). I'm very envious, it is my favourite colour and I understand Matt Humphries used this colour when he conceived the design, so it is special in that regard. I hope you find the car you want Stuart

Mpg for all my aeros is around 250-300 miles to a tank, so around 25mpg in spirited driving. More if you have a basket of eggs on the passenger seat...
Love the 356! Just not much use to me to drop a 1 1/2 year old at nursery in the mornings and park at the station in the rain some weeks!

I hope you find the car you want Stuart I've never been able to get that sort of mileage of of a 4.8L Aero Stuart, maybe I've got a heavy right foot, but I'm always starting to thing about re-filling the tank after it's done 200 miles!  As regards the colour, I think it's called Liquid Mercury - I believe it was an AMG colour originally and for the AeroMax was a £10k extra. I agree it is a stunning colour for the car and there is a photo of Rich's Max taken at Cheltenham, just after I'd had it extensively detailed, by a professional photographer from slightly above which is one of my all time favourite photos of the Max. I think like all cars the depreciation curve at the start is always likely to be the worst time, and as we have seen since they were released in 2008 the prices have stayed pretty stable. Dropping around 15% ans staying there, bare in mind the car was circa £115k including 17.5% VAT, adjustment for net of VAT is @ £95k therefore the residual is still sitting pretty well, even if its an odd colour that wows the croud

No, you're probably driving it properly Brian! - I've been told I drive 'like Miss Daisy'. A little digression... When the Service guys docked the key of my MINI JCW to interrogate the stored ECU data they couldn't believe I had logged a 44mpg average, in fact they initially thought I had somehow re-set it. Truth is, like the 'Max, the MINI mainly gets used for 300 mile round-trips between Dorset and Kent on nightime A-roads. Not driven too quickly, but fun to have the roads to yourself...

The e type seems to be very high priced and from talking to different people i have decided against it for now and i think i'm to tall for an e type, it was only the very early model i was interested in and didnt really know to much about them so its good to do a bit of research before jumping into something.
The morgan was one of my first choices but i wasnt to sure about buying a modern car, i'm narrowing my search down all the time.

My autobox Max is now over 40K milles and returns on motorway 38 mpg, in average, closer to 25, in spirited driving in the Alps, closer to 12
My plilosophy with that car is simple: it is meant to be driven as much as you can, as hard as you can. Maintenance and fuel consumption are no object to keep the beat running
Resale not an option, I will drive it for as long as I can and then my kids will drive it till dinosaur juice isn t avaliable anymore
Whilst residual values can be a topic for Ferrari or Aston, for a car made at 100 models only and having been sold in no time, I wouldn t be concerned
It is a joy to have, to drive and to enjoy

Well I only have a humble S1 Aero and I've been out and about in it today having not driven it throughout our miserable winter.
What a truly magical experience it was too. I'd forgotten what a giggle it is........I'm in love again.
Personally I wouldn't care if it was only worth £2 next year because the amount of pleasure it give me is priceless and immeasurable.
