Finally the 3 feet snowdrift outside the garage is gone and the Mog is out again On my first short stint I noticed that I must have a pair of new shocks in the back... I have also thought about fitting an anti tramp bar and I guess there are a few things to consider... First: How much do I have to dismantle to fit the bar at the front end (where the spring is attached)? Second: If I would like to change replace the whole spring (both) at the same time - how big a job is that? Is it possible to do it from below without lifting the body?

You can do it from below for the rear section i.e. spring at rear of car and u bolts, Centralise wheels in arch good option at this point, with Heavy duty U bolts, and the Panhard rod. the front of the traction bars fit in Cockpit with the front of the spring, access is gained with the seats removed and the small access cover at the rear bulkhead and floor/chassis sill. It's fairly basic mechanic's although it seem's daunting allow 2-3 days with fettling. If you've changed land rover, Jeep or Suzuki Samie leaf spring its basically the same.

Thanks both, the only 'spring' change I've done was on a Citroen CX, not the same at all... Universal pliers (polygrip) was all I needed spring, at last (sorry about the orientation.. will try to fix it later)

Second: If I would like to change replace the whole spring (both) at the same time - how big a job is that? Is it possible to do it from below without lifting the body? Having charged my rear/front suspension set up, and talked to a few people first, I would recommend you do the same before changing the rear springs. I read a number of articles that said making the rear springs too stiff on a MOG can have the effect of turning the back into a proverbial kangaroo. Stiff rear end might be great on a circuit but not on our uneven and pot holed roads, you don't want it hopping about. I have lowered mine 1 inch rear(keeping original springs) and 3/4 lower up front, with panhard rod and adjustable gas shocks all round, front springs are 150lbs with roller bearings under the top springs and top pillar tie bars. I have played around with shocker settings for a reasonable ride on roads, a 1/3 setting is good, if on a track I would set at least double this all round. Front camber angle is 0.5 degree (in at top). Would be interested on anyone else's thoughts on rear springs, especially for +8's

Thanks for your input Adrian. I will replace my shocks first and decide on the springs later. We have a lot of potholes where I live and I don't race, not yet anyhow. Would like to try though, tried gocart a long time ago and that was great fun Richard: Thanks, the white field in the background is the ice on the lake Storsjön (eng: Great Lake) The link to he picture disappeared in my previous post, but here it is again:

Time to get to work, but... all may spanners are metric (mm)! Does anyone have the dimensions I will need for replacing my rear shocks, available?

Spanners sorted - I think... Seems like a small problem to ask about, but you can't get them everywhere. Some I even have to order and wait for so I want to get it right the first time.
