Cereal, my feeling - after looking at the S1s on the market - was that the Aero seems very price sensitive based on mileage.

While you expect dealers to use any variable (colour, mileage, options) to talk down the value of a car at trade-in/disposal time, it appears that buyers have become acutely focused on mileage on Aeros. Instead of having condition or service history as their primary concern, mileage seems of utmost importance.

Do you figures reflect this or was it just an anomaly when I was looking at the 2nd hand market?

Personally I have found higher mileage cars tend to have been more reliable for me than low mileage ones. Provided they are well maintained they seem to have less problems. Not that I have masses of data, just personal experience with vehicles I've had.

I will be selling mine at 2 years old with I would expect about 24,000 miles. Baring my series 4 being a lemon, I expect to keep it for a long time as I will be ramping up the mileage on it.

Totally agree.... very low miles cars (of any type) suffer from all sorts of problems with things like wheels cylinders etc. Mark Baldwin told me the reason my Aero starter was jamming was because I was not using it enough

You could be right and whilst there are regional differences on Aero pricing, there are also differences within the areas in UK depending on which dealers are selling; even though most of them are selling cars on a commission basis for the owners.

Interesting that you have a formula for pricing Aero's, as Shooter has said we'll all be approaching you for selling prices for our cars when it comes to sell-time. Though with 15 different criteria, some of them must be very subjective.

I agree to an extent.

I'd rather buy a well maintained car, with full service history that has been used; rather than a garage-queen that needs refreshing due to lack of use.

However, I also think there is a limited market for high mile Aeros. Few people will want to use the car daily and for most it will be a toy. Therefore, it is not unfair to believe that they will view an Aero with 12,000-miles per annum as too high for their liking and either expect a massive discount or just opt to buy one with 6,000 or less per annum.

I had used a mileage adjustment figure of 8ppm which is only 2p over what BMW state a 2007 2 ltr BMW Z4 is.

If the car has been used on track days this figure changes to 24ppm - over the full mileage.

When you take all the other components into consideration this reflects quite a small amount of the build.

Yep.. to get around this on Aero's at dealers sitting around.. I heard the technique of starting them once or twice a day to keep the problem away.

That'll probably does more damage long term than one that start up and go...

Not true, anything under 8300miles in 7 mths will have issues

Seriously, I honestly think anything under 3 or 4k/annum would have issues
