Check the power kill switch behind the drivers seat. It may look to be on but only a small movement will kill the power. Istruments , clokc et al usually are on a bypass wire.

Hi there I am still at it. Got advice last night of what to check and am working my way through the system. I can now get it to turn over but will not fire up. I am thinking it will be the ignition switch but am plodding on. Thank you all for your replies

I still havent got it going but I can now turn the engine over but it doesn't fire. I have worked my way backwards from the starter motor. and it appears I havent got any power under the relay. Using 30 and 85 there appears to be no life. I refered to Miscellany April 2010 page 25 Andrew Hurst article, with the ignition on I can get no light and between 30 and 86 no light as well. But between 30 and 87 the engine will turn. I have tried a new relay and it still doesnt work. Any suggestions most welcome.

On some ECU's if the battery is only slightly below par it will turn over and not fire. Try a recharge overnight.

We are in the Midlands. I am led to believe that the relay is ok, the battery is fine and with the relay out and using a fused jump lead I can get the engine to turn over but not fire. Tomorrow I am going to burn the car and claim on the insurance !! Joking apart I have to trace the red and white feed as I am told I have not got continuity. I have rung Andrew Hirst and cannot thank him enough for his advice and patience. Tomorrow is another day.

Can you pull a plug and see if you've got a spark?

Phone either Mike Duncan or Kevin Vernon - renowned midland fettlers, they will surely get you going. Kevin has a trailer, he will come and take your car away to mend it if needed (mike may have one too, I have never had to use it though)

Or find any competent mechanic near you if the Morgan specialists aren't local. There's nothing special mechanically or electrically about the car. It's just a question of being methodical.
