Jnr phoned got her Uni exam results today. She has past them and her dissertation . Now she is BSc.Hons . Snr said will it cost anything to speak to you now, I pointed out I have been paying since birth to speak to her .
We were lucky. MissW only cost £1100 for the frst 3 years, and an extra £3000 for the fourth year. She lived at home and commuted (the Yorkshire way). Then the next three years were paid for by a bursary, so win/win.

Nice one JTL. Both of mine each have one more year to go as undergraduates, 'tho I'm not too optimistic that the light at the end of the tunnel will be getting any closer as far as getting them off the payroll is concerned; university studies seem to go on for many more years these days than they did when I were a lad.
Brilliant, bet you're proud as anything. I have one "off the payroll", one with a year to go (out of 6) and one about to start (4 years at £9k per year fees, ouch, that would buy a nice M3W).
I love your point "I've been paying to speak to her for years" - so true!!
Dave she is not aware but I have been like a cat on a hot tin roof , as for the brains off me doubt it more the brawn. She phoned y/day won a big boat race by a large margin. It's not for the uni but a boat club who keep asking her to cox for them .Did not phone last night out a the pub to celebrate ( dont know who she takes after ) . When given an adult 4 man crew . She told them straight to take notice of her if they intended to win , she made them row with their eyes shut a good few times . To get the feel of the water and to trust her ability. She e-mailed a photo to-day of her standing with the crew holding a huge cup almost as big as her with the following , " I won a boat race cup y/day , what did you do " . I felt like replying , " working to pay for it ". As for costs did a quick estimate 14 year in public school 22 holidays abroad 3 year in uni . She stopped after I said I had seen many classic cars go by and our carpets are getting bare. She is off to Rome to have a break I am going to Masham N/Yorks for a night : Told her now the real life begins where you have to work . oldgit:

About to open that Hobgoblin now .
Good on her!
My kids were through Uni some years ago now but I can still vividly recall the "puffed up" chest and intense feeling of pride that brought tears of to my eye.
