I can see right through the louvres on Molly's bonnet at the Weber, so when it backfires and flames start I will have advanced warning, by maybe 1/2 second.

Does anyone else notice small white smudges arond the bonnet slats after a while. They wipe of easily enough but show up on my dark car. I expect they are caused by gas and fumes coming up through the louvres.

Could it be polish residue blowing out? It collects in the corners on the inside unless you are really thorough.
