Hi All.

I am busy with getting Tango registered in Norway.I have a CoC from Tango from when it left the factory. It indicates that Tango was equipped with 18" wheels,as standard on serie4 Aero's.
Tango is however,on request of the previous owner, when is was sold as a demo from Morgan, equipped with 19" Aeromax wheels and tires.I foresee now some discussion with Veivesen, who is dealing with the registration in Norway.
Is there by any chance a reader on TM who has a copy of a CoC of an Aeromax (whith the original 19" wheels) or a CoC of a Aero8 with 19" Aeromax wheels? This would probably make my case a lot easier if I can supply this with my own CoC.

Many thanks for your help in advance.
Rudolf.

Rudolf. If you have a problem I suggest you ask Morgan. The CoC (Certificate of Conformity) specifies the VIN number of the vehicle and can not be applied to another vehicle. As the vehicle has already been registered in another country it should not be a problem, unless as in Italy, the wheel and tyre sizes are specified on the car's documents.

In fact it is most unusual for the owner to have a copy of the CoC. In theory only one copy should be printed and that goes to the authorities on first registration.

My suggestion would be to first find out if there is a problem, presenting the documents without the CoC, and without mentioning your concerns about the tyre sizes. If there is a problem then ask what your authorities would need and then contact Morgan. It may be they only need a certificate that the wheels are an approved option at the factory.

PM me if you need to know who to talk or write to at the factory.

Hi Peter.

Thanks for your thoughts, but Norway acts a bit different since it a non EU country.
Having a registration in another EU country will not say Norway will automatically accept the car for registration! It makes things from my own experience a lot easier with newer cars to have the CoC,which I have for my car.
You are right,I will not mention the wheelsize to the authorities, but the tire size is written in the registration document,so it will be checked. That is why I want to be prepared for giving an hopefully acceptable answer about the Aeromax wheels. It might be the authorities will accept just a photo from the wheels on an Aeromax, but I have the feeling that I have to show that the track which stays the same as with the original wheels.

Again,thanks for thinking with me.
Regards,Rudolf

I would be interested...from a US perspective, what this all amounts to?
Seems like the Certificate of Conformity is similar to our Certificate of Title - which amounts to little more than a piece of paper stating that you own the automobile. On the title there are necessary pieces of information about the car such as make, model, color, VIN, etc....but wheels/tires??? I couldn't imagine that mattering on a "used" car. Once it's changed hands, who's to say it hasn't had a new wheel/tire package fitted to the new owners taste?

I find the differences in a lot of our motoring laws, etc. really interesting.

No not at all. There may be a Certificate of Title, depending on the country but the Certificate of Conformity is normally used only for the first registration and is simply a certificate that states the various criteria that applied to the European homologation (type approval) of the make and model and certifies that the vehicle VIN such and such complies with this specification. Normally the owner would never even see this document as it is surrendered to the motor vehicle registration authority when the vehicle is first registered and this is usually done by the dealer.

It does not have any real significance outside of the European Community but may be accepted by some other countries that the vehicle complies to certain accepted standards and test criteria.
