Be careful with the WD40, whilst it's a good penetrant it can form an oily barrier which is non-conductive (not what you want between a bulb and the fitting), I'd use ACF-50 because that is conductive and recommended for electrical connectors.

Check the earth connections to the bulb holder. My indicators were sometimes not working and I did the "wiggle test" and found the earth to be poor. If necessary take the holder out to re-make a good connection - mine had a rivetted connection that I drilled out and repaced with a small bolt after cleaning everything up and it worked from then on with no trouble.
