So as a little present to myself for working so many hours recently (of course with my pennies going into savings!) I finally bought Driving Ambition, which is the story of the McLaren F1. It's fairly sought-after so prices are a bit silly but I managed to find one for a decent price because it was missing its (rubbish) dust jacket.

Anyhoo, I've wanted it for a while as I'm fascinated by the car. I have not been disappointed. It's a terrific, very interesting book and has some wonderful photos including Gordon Murray's beautiful drawings and notes/memos etc. It makes you understand the ethos behind the car and it all feels strangely intimate, as if you've been secretly let inside an enclave!

Totally recommended to anyone with a blood type of 103 RON.

Nice!
There's an article in June's Octane...a comparison between the F1 and the Ferrari GTO as the ultimate classic....by Doug Nye. He reminisces over his writing of the F1's owner's special edition of Driving Ambition and how Ron Dennis refused to give him a free copy!

There was an F1 driving around the streets of Le Mans during the 2010 24 Hours. Bright orange with the registration M700 BHP.
I don't know who owns it, but it was the first one I had seen on public roads. . . lovely

Used to be mr bridger's from Pistonheads, it's a road-converted GTR. Believe it was sold to someone else recentlyish. Video of Tiff testing it for Fifth Gear on YouTube.
