I would think an MX5, if not too small would be a good one to consider. Cheap and reliable. However if too small and you still hanker after something a bit more of a classic then the Jag XK would be top of my list I think. If you just want modern open top motoring then as others have said the golf etc would fit the bill.

See where you're coming from Freddy but happy with our Forester for now which is ideal for what you are talking about and similar; 2.5 petrol turbo, 'quick brick'! Cheers

Golf and BMW series 1 rag tops are in pole position, despite the very tempting suggestions so far thanks. Loved our MX5 but no longer 'getting down or dirty'! Cheers

I had a BMW Series 1 ragtop out for the day last year...was very impressed with it!

VW EOS? - similar to the Golf but added refinement and security due to the folding metal roof. Two friends have them and love them.

My  drives a 125 Cabrio,she likes it a lot,from time to time i don't mind taking it for a spin either..
