I disagree...I don't own a Morgan, but would like one anyway, surely it behoves at least one owner to take his car to a specialist and have an independent report written up on the current suspension design which then be presented to Morgan and others.

It can be changed clearly, they drew this all up on a CAD system, so changes can be made. The front ends of future chassis could be changed, rack location could be changed, wishbone design could be changed.

People like me and Triking have to make changes and improvements, otherwise how do such machines evolve.

You guys are spending up to £35KGBP and more and if you are dissatisfied, as it appears some are...you should be doing something about it collectively and bypassing the dealers. The dealers are not the ones to understand geometry....but the factory should! After all, the designer is now freelance, so take it up with him directly.

Well put and clearly explained.

Unfortunately this is the result of designing for aesthetics without the consultation of a specialist engineer for some of the important bits.

Given that the M3W was inspired by the Liberty Ace (which in turn was inspired by the vintage Morgan) I really can't understand why they did not follow the design of the front suspension and steering already developed and proven.

Merlin, I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with, but you are quite right, it should and could be, re-designed, but what about the hundreds of cars already out on the roads with the existing design. Sometimes there is a relatively minor fix that will improve the problem, if not rectify it altogether, I just cannot see anything minor sorting this issue, short of a complete redesign of the front end, fine for new cars, but what about all the older ones? Morgan do know about this and the dissatisfaction of some owners, but do not, it seems, want to do anything about it, yet.

Anyway people are working on it, so we shall see if they come up with something.

Does anyone know what happened about the re-introduction of the Suplex shocks? As the original few cars that had them appeared to be more stable. The one I drove certainly had very little bump compared to mine.

I would of thought that this would be a far easier and cheaper modification than a redesign of the wishbones etc. I may be mistaken, no experience with geometry.

If somebody does have the time and wants to approach an expert in this field I for one wouldn't mind contributing to the cost. Group buy anyone?

The early demo I drove didn't seem to be anything like as prone to bump steer as my M3W (number 700) is. I would go with a contribution to a proper engineers report but do you think that Morgan will actually do anything to fix the problem on existing cars even if faced with such a report? They seem to be very, very quiet at the moment. I would be happy for my car to drive as well as the early demo, that is what I thought I had bought after all.

I don't think a report would change anything with Morgan, its been made this way now for I presume various reasons of supply and cost. They have to make, wait for it dirty word coming up.... Profit.

What the report may do is give a definitive answer to approximately 500 plus owners and hopefully help with the development of a different setup alternative. Same as the trad kingpin / shock alternative or you can choose to stay with the factory setup.

I certainly don't think Morgan will recall all the cars or should they for a re-design that they didn't re-design.

When you go over a bump the steering wheel moves. Most of the time very very little, very occasionally abit, very rarely abit more. Two hands on the wheel driving recommended.

If you're used to driving your T Bucket and 32' then the 3W should be better smile but not as good as the Ferrari !

Yes to the Two Hands! Have learned that, if I am on an open road, when I hit something that causes this to occur, I let both hands loosen up and just let it have its way. As long as there is no other traffic around it hasn't steered me wrong yet! I have a handful of known road irregularities that the only sane, rational option is to slow down! Any other response is insane.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
