I imagine it took some time to write that. The pictures are great.

The problem is that you cannot walk away and the salesman knows that, now you need steel in your heart to negotiate, or just go with the love and sign. You will still have more of your money at the end of 2 years, but you won't change it then either. Maybe for a brand new one.

Remember that every time you park somewhere a person with an Alpina will be really angry as they come back to find people crawling all over their car to take a photo of yours. BIG smile.

Now we can say WELCOME.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Just to keep everyone up to date:
- Dealer is being slow in coming back with a trade in price on mine. So final numbers are a little distant
- I am still booked in at the Alpina factory on Monday to review leather options
- I met with Ale_72 last night - who threw me the keys to his car immediately!!!! He gave me a full tour of the car - what is good (sound, look, comfort, economy, feel) and what is bad (built by Brits, in a shed, on a hill).
- We went through all the cars available (in Switzerland) that are available for the same price - and ticked them off one by one with a reason (excuse) of why the Morgan is "better".

As it stands - if I buy with my head I stick with what I have. If I buy with 25% heart I get the Alpina. If I buy with all heart it is Morgan all the way.

redcard

I resemble that remark laugh2

You're not really that indecisive are you? Stop mucking about and buy the Morgan - let your heart win banghead

From a Brit, in a sort of large shed, near the edge of a hill...

"Built by brits, in a shed, on a hill." rofl

Excellent quote, made me laugh !
Excuse me sir but they use at least three sheds in total, lets not do them a dis-service. slap wink Perhaps I should be a lot more worried that the external perception of British labour is not as high as we had hoped ! I am certain it is meant as humour farmer

"as it stands - if I ....."
I interpret this as meaning that you are only 25% likely to buy the Alpina now and 75% likely to buy the Morgan wine Well done Ale_72, good work.

In all honesty life is too short to let your head rule your heart. I have done this for ages now and love our Aero S2 but am beginning to regret not buying it earlier and also not upgrading sooner to a Coupe/Max/SS and using it every day. My daily car is being sold, the S2 is about to go up for sale, I am leasing its replacement and it's time for the upgrade.

You could always do it in stages. Lease a lesser BMW/Alpina and use the money to buy an Aero S1-4 now. Give it two years and then upgrade to an SS/Coupe/Max etc. Given that Morgans hold their value quite well this is a way of having your cake and eating it. You will of course always be kicking yourself that you could have had the SS/C/M right from the start. Every time you walk out your door you will be looking for it in the drive.

When you see the Alpina factory you can marvel at the precision of entire thing from end to end. Ask the salesman what he would drive given the choice. Ask him/her how long they have worked there. See if the passion runs right through to their soul. They might miss a screw but they don't intend to.

Also think of the banter at an Alpina owners meeting, I got 43.9 mpg out of my car last month by folding in the wing mirrors when cruising. Do you find the Dunlop run flats are a little noisier ? pale Where else but Morgan are you going to find loonies/people that hand you the keys to their pride and joy on first meeting you. Will your children/spouse/partner want to have you meet them in the car at every possible opportunity ? My niece always wanted me to meet her at the University so people could see the car. Is there an excuse to go away for a weekend in order to use the car ?

I am very realistic about the faults on my Aero however I would never be without one.

I bet the Alpina is not even built on a hill. Terrible - where's the fun in a flat factory.
