I think you'll find that might be the capacity of the bevel box.

There's a good chance, even a box that doesn't have a breather... actually does, even if it is not obviously a breather. Oil expands and contracts with temperature a bit, and the air contents likewise.

I could visualise a blocked breather causing the bearings to leak.

soapbox
don't forget that a M3W is meant for driving too. I am not going to open the boot protection just for the sake of cleaning some parts after every drive. It requires to unscrew/screw 8 hexa screws. Without oil leaking it should however stay cleaner.

Not an expert but I understood the oil breather (which comes up under/ behind the air filter) was for engine oil not the bevel box - where you see the "leak"?

I had a leak from one of the push-rod covers which led to oil all over everything below this - engine mountings, number plate etc. My dealer has checked this, emailed pics to the factory and now ordered a new seal. Originally he thought it was coming down from the air filter/ oil breather though, as he said he often sees this.

Sad to say but I am garaging mine until the rear sprocket can be replaced with the newer version. The noise of it is drowning out the tailpipe burps and one of the guys at the local filling station commented to me about it after I coasted in and it was still noisy!

~(:(

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
