John, not in Bucks but depending on where in Bucks you are, these may be worth considering: - Micheldever Tyres, Winchester, 1962 774437.

They have a good reputation and I know a fair few people who travel quite a good distance to use them.

I personally use a board member, Ben, who co-owns a small auto business called Riemans. While not a tyre business, he has excellent contacts and I've found his service and prices are hard to beat. The downside for you is that he is based in Oxted Surrey.

I'm happy to pass along his details if it helps someone? He did offer us a winter tyre deal last autumn and I'm sure would be happy to help again. He is also always on hand to offer free advice and his tyre contacts can usually answer any size/rare spec question.

Just last week I used MWS of Langley near Slough to fit my new Michelin XZX`s to standard wires (which they supplied in 1984!). They took a lot of trouble with fitting & balancing and took over 40 minutes (I supplied the wheels & tyres loose) and charged a not unreasonable £15+VAT per wheel.
By the way the old tyres - Michelin XAS`s, were date coded 1982...............umm

alternatively if you must have 205/60/15 then try Dougal Cawley at Longstone Classic tyres, who is a mine of tyre information (and also stocks everything)

according to the "tyre and wheel bible " its best not to change the rolling radius of the wheel by more than 3% so maybe 205/55/15 s would be better - I am starting from a very low knowledge base as you can tell ! an outfit called Camskill appear to have Toyos very reasonably priced - anybody know them ?

that's because it affects your speedometer reading and top speed/ ride height, although I think the agility and grip of the tyres is worth the downside. It really depends what you are doing with the car. If you are just using it on the road stick with tall tyres, if you are doing track days or speed events go for low profile.
If you are doing trials you need tall grippy tires...........

Just used Miller Commercial Motors in High Wycombe who did a great job to change all 5 for a reasonable cost.

After a bit more research I was thinking of Vredenstein Sportrac 3's for my +8 as they match the wheels exactly - any opinions anyone ?

I recently put Uniroyal Rally 550's on my 4/4 (195-60-15) on the advice of my local tyre guy. I have now done about 250miles on them - well - you HAVE to try them out!!! I must say that the car is glued to the road especially in the wet we have had here in Ireland over the last week. Granted the comparison is to 13y/o avons, but the level of grip is amazing and they are much quieter.
