The temptation of a new Aero 8 with the auto box grows stronger by the day.

I tested a new S3 a couple of weeks back and hadn't realised until then that you cannot alter the angle on the seatback, no adjustment

I felt I wanted to drop the seat angle a couple of inches to get comfortable . Being six foot tall I have the seat well back on my Roadster. Can you get a recline facility on the Aero seats from the factory or as a mod later.

PS Anyone looking for a red Roadster, as new, and lovingly Zymoled

I would guess if you crossed Steve Simmonds hands with enough pound notes it could be done.

Andy, if you're tall (I'm 6'2") just try the aero out - I've never thought that the seat needs to recline. A little lumbar support (usually provided by a rolled up jumper!) works for me on long long journeys.

I would however consider perhaps dropping some stuffing out of the seat base so I could sit a little lower than I do now.

Like Rich said, I never missed the recline and I'm 6'3"; however, again, like Rich said I did look into lowering the seat and this is a no-go!

The seat is basically on the floor and the only way to gain space is to permanently fix it into one position (not a viable option) OR loose some stuffing. Therefore, the reduced stuffing in the seat squab seemed the right option.

I'll give Steve Simmonds a call to see if he has done any mods. He offers 'Speedster' seats for Trads which are very similar in design to those in the Aero , which I think recline. He also offered heating for an extra £250 per pair which did not sound out of the way. :cool:

The problem I had in the S3 was feeling too 'upright' and wanted the seat back a few inches rather than being 'lower'.

Does anyone know why the factory does not offer a recline facility on the backrest? If no one knows I'll post a question to 'Ask Morgan'

I am same height as you, I have the same problem as you, when I slide the seat to a position where I could comfortably depress the clutch pedal, my chest would be too close to the steering wheel.
I now have a simple solution, slide the seat right back, then seat yourself a few inches forward(slide yourself forward), so that my leg still be able to depress the clutch pedal, place a small cushion under your lower back, and you have a very comfortable driving position Not to mention, your lowering the centre of gravity as well

I'm still bemused as I can get a perfect position in my Roadster which has reclining seats, yet on a car costing the best part of £70K there is no recline facility offered (I'd willingly pay if I had the option to)

Am I expecting too much? As the Aero is hailed as having much better long distance comfort than a trad, a seat with an adjustable backrest does not appear to be an unreasonable expectation so you can find a decent driving position without having to resort to carrying extra clothing to sit on

I looked at getting my seats retrimmed recently and was told to leave it until the end of the summer when one of the dealers has told me he will have a solution to the problem.
