I think its normal for most cars to overread, but illegal to under read. When I was travelling at 80mph, the satnav reading was around 74.
Only the police vehicles have fully calibrated speedo.

This was the reason that many forces allowed the 10% plus 2 or 3mph margin. In other words, 35 in a 30mph and 80mph on the motorway.

Hello all

Recently bought a TomTom 720 and according to this at a steady indicated 130km/h I was doing 117km/h

Tried in my Saab 9000 and at indicated 130km/h TomTom gave 124km/h

Then tried in the wife's old 2CV and at an indicated 100km/h (well I couldn't find a hill steep enough to reach a steady 130km/h, TomTom indicated 100km/h! Wife is now well smug!

Cheers

Philip
