Pleased to read in 'Classic and Sports Car' that the hillclimb course at Chateau Impney, Droitwich is due to be revived by 2015. With the ongoing threats to venues like Curborough and Mallory Park this is good news for motor sport fans. Gerry.

Should be interesting that one Gerry.

On the Mallory front I was listening to one of the Safety guys yesterday talking about it. Due to the problems with neighbours and not getting agreement on operating, Mallory is, for the present, in liquidation. Fortunately, the council are coming around to Mallory's way of thinking - it brings in in excess of £1M per annum to the local economy. They are realising it's money that should not be lost. As for the antis, there are approx 30, led by a lady who moved into the area approx 5 years ago.
So, re-negotiations regarding lease etc. are underway. Lets hope these idiots that shouldn't be allowed to buy houses (near racetracks, airfields or other noise sources in particular) end up losing.

Cheers,

I have no time for people who move into an area....be it near a long established motor racing circuit or farms etc and then campaign against them. Mallory is such a great circuit and as well as riding around it on various motorbikes and testing there in the past, I have some great memories of watching the likes of Gerry Marshall racing there.....not to be forgotten!

BUT....in this case Mallory only has itself to blame. They were abusing the number of days usage for a number of years and not by a small margin either. Lets hope there will be a compromise which will keep most of the locals...and the council, on their side.

The Mem. and I stayed at the hotel when we visited the factory a couple of years ago. I had no idea that a hill climb existed there. The celler resturant was nice but the rooms were a bit "old world" in decor.
If it does get going it would be a great place as the Jaguar factory is not that far away so you can see the past and the future whilst staying at a nice venue. I hope it all goes ahead.

I understand that the new owner of the Chateau Impney is an out and out car fan, hence the desire to resurrect the hill climb. In addition there is a major refurb of the hotel going on.
