Hello

I'm the owner of a Morgan 4-4 from 1936 which had a engine damage recently. The engine is currently rebuilt but we found out, that the engine block is in a very bad condition. It has a crack between the cylinders and the water channels are not thight. I think this problems can be fixed for this time somehow. But I came to the question: How about a new/recasted engine block.

I didn't find anything about remanufactured OC-Type engine blocks in the Internet. This engine has also been used in pre-war Triumphs and other marques.

So my question is: Has there ever been an initiative/project to have Coventry Climax OC-Type engine blocks remanufactured? Are there other people who also need one? Are adresses of companies known where this can be done?

I would be happy with any hint.

Kind regards, B. R., Switzerland

Try the pre 1940 triumph owners club http://www.pre-1940triumphmotorclub.org/spares.html.

You will need to speak to Derry Aust. As far as I am aware there are no plans to re-manufacture the block.

Hello
I used to own a 1937 Series One 4/4. I sold it a while ago but have a lot of spare parts for that model including a complete original Morgan 1122 Coventry Climax engine, I also have a spare cylinder head, 2 sumps, two brand new Solex carbs, new springs etc. They've been sat in the garage for quite a while now... part of me was hoping that a Series One minus an engine or with a damaged engine would come along and I would be able to use it in that! Failing that I would perhaps consider selling all the parts on to another Series One owner.
Best regards

Swidgen, would be worth putting a post on the Morgan Challenge website forum as there are several series one owners who often need parts for racing..

Someone in need might want to contact George Proudfoot. He has helped me many times with spares for my ex 1939 climax Series 1 and current Standard Special Series 1.

Cheers,
