Oh well here goes .....

After I started the Aero register I did consider restarting the original Aero club .

Several things came to light after I discussed this with many owners and Vic and Julie who helped run it before

Most people are really busy and have hectic schedules and it became difficult to get people together for formal meetings and the like .Of the 36 members they struggled to get more than 5 cars

In view of this my idea would be to have one annual meet at a place and time that that is best for the majority of members - if this works then we could expand to another meet in the year or gatecrash an existing meet like the annual MOG

Add to this "anyone coming for lunch meets" these shouldnt be too difficult to arrange

No pressure - no minutes or formal meets - just a meet up for lunch

I could modify the Aero Register Website to become the Aero club website quite easily and speak to the MSCC

The majority of owners that I have spoke to are not active members of local clubs and rarely get a chance to meet up

As this car is only going to become more interesting it would be nice to still have a following . I will volunteer to do this if you all think it is worth it .

Let me know or PM me

Good luck!

The informal lunch gatherings are quite a good idea. Another group of which I'm a member does just that sort of thing (sometimes at too short notice for me to get the time off, but hey, I'm always there in spirit!! grin2 )

J+J

I am 100% behind you and would love to see this happen, however you will need (for greater numbers) to consider
a percentage of Aero owners do live north of Watford Gap.

This in mind, to give you a greater chance of numbers at meeting may I suggest every meet is not just contained within the southern Counties (regions).

Also' maybe an idea would to not fully concentrate on just an "Aero Meeting" but to bring the Aero and their owners to an event of some sort, ie a Race Horse Event, a car event etc etc....The LMC is a great example of bringing the Aero crowd together, however I am not suggesting we all drive to central France to meet.

Finally with regard to distance I am more than happy to come south, but consider if I travel south (300mls) I require 1/2a day to get there and 1/2 a day back, therefore it may need the event to be Saturdays.

just suggestions thrown in the Pot and if you require support I am ready and willing

Best
Dean

Dean - think this is fair. My little pub meets are not intended to serve a full club function, though I'm happy to help organise an 'Aero' meet going forward if that would be useful.

On a separate note, I still harbour the wish to have an 'Aeromax' meet in the spring to get as many together as possible. As previously discussed - somewhere near the factory would be a sensible option. I'm still thinking this one through - open to ideas...

I would join up. How about a meet at the Silverstone Classic in the summer - roughly central and a great event?

Well done J & J, full support from me +1.

The aspect of numbers is interesting as sometimes less is more. I used to be part of the Triumph Roadster Club and there are only 250-300 of those left on the road. Regional meets would be lucky to see 2 or 3 turn up but the annual event which had a concours and furthest mileage competion, but no driving stuff, were always well attended 50-60+.

MSCC may have rules that would apply but I think this is where the difference lies between a group of friendly people meeting in the same place who all drive the same model of car, and a formal meeting of cars with their drivers.

A diary date 12 months in advance, 2 days possibly with deposit direct to an hotel, north of Watford, should clarify the general committment.

I look forward to further news drive

DFDS from Amsterdam to Newcastle and you are on my doorstep, from there 130km south to York. A great place for a meeting
