Having gone out for a nice blast in the autumn sunshine I found the windscreen washer was not working. On my return I found the passenger foot well carpet was soaking and correctly deduced the pipe had come off the washer jet. On investigation and removal of the rubber cover under the dash on passengers side, I found the pipe where it comes through from the bulkhead but I could not find where it connect to. By hanging upside down I could see there was another pipe going to the jet so I assume the pipe from the bottle comes through the bulkhead and goes to a T-piece - possible somewhere behind the glove box. Anybody had a similar problem or had the dashboard out and knows where the pipe connect to?

You might be able to locate the T piece by feel. Otherwise you'll probably have to unscrew the dash and lean it towards you, so you can see in from the top.

It did it on my roadster a few weeks ago...gave my passenger quite a shock with a very wet leg. Not helped by me operating the washer again just to check!

The rubber pipe is quite fiddly to push onto the T-piece as you can't get a lot of purchase. The best thing as Dave says is to drop the dash slightly then at least you can get a grip on the T-piece and loose tube and see what you are doing!

I wonder if this is a common problem? The factory now fit an alloy plate behind the instruments on the new Roadster to stop water getting into the expensive electronics!

I had that with my mk1 Roadster. About an hour before the first MOT was due I thought I'd better check the basics...

I put some wire around the pipes where they go onto the fittings & had no more trouble.

I had the same problem recently on my 2009 plus4. The collet failed - it is a small bit of rubber tube which constricts the washer tube beyond the"bump" on the T piece. If you push the tube back on the t piece, tie a bit of wire around it to keep it on!!!

Cheers!

If it's hard to push on either try some washing up liquid or put the end of the pipe in a cup of boiling water for a few seconds.

The problem is that Morgan uses cheap plastic tube that ages badly and doesn't like detergents. Over time it hardens.

Replace it with silicone tube, much more expensive but it won't harden and come lose. I've got to do this task as the screen washer jet on the drivers side is lose and keeps twisting away from pointing at the screen.

The tubes on mine are thin black rubber...perhaps silicone. Plastic on my MINI and one of those pops off every couple of months! At least easy to get to compared to the Morgan.

I've had the wet-leg. treatment too after using the washers. Mine are now held in place with cable-ties.
