I tested an early MTW in Norway and my only cooling problem was that my head got too warm when stuck in rush hour traffic in Oslo upon returning the car to the dealer on a sunny Friday afternoon. The overheating was due to the helmet requirement.

I have a question: IF I decide to go green on my M3W 2014 plan, I'm going to bring it to Portugal by road, with a side-trip to Ireland (wife's idea, and a good one too).

In that case, does anyone know if any of the countries between the UK and Portugal require the use of helmets? And/or seatbelts?

You guys may fill in the blanks, with your help all this will get filled up quick:

UK - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

IRELAND - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

FRANCE - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

SPAIN - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

PORTUGAL - Helmet NO / Seatbelt YES

My guess is that if it's registered in your home country (Portugal..?) then those countries laws apply & other EU countries allow for temporary use.

Try here - http://ec.europa.eu/transport/road_safety/going_abroad/index_en.htm - if it helps.

Thanks but that link isn't accurate regarding Portugal (it says helmets are mandatory in Tricycles, when that's not true for all and certainly isn't in the M3W case). It also says helmets are mandatory for tricycles in all other countries, and has no info available on UK's regulations.

Thank you Jay and Waldemar (I'll keep your info for a possible future trip to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, one that is firmly placed on my "to do" list smile ).

So, From the UK to Portugal, through Ireland, France and Spain, we got:

UK - Helmet NO / Seatbelt YES

IRELAND - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

FRANCE - Helmet NO / Seatbelt YES (reflective vest)

SPAIN - Helmet ... / Seatbelt ...

PORTUGAL - Helmet NO / Seatbelt YES

About the reflective vest in France, are you sure it applies to a tricycle? I just checked the portuguese code and it specifically mentions that two and three wheeled vehicles are exempt of the need to have reflective vests and triangles in them.
