In my opinion it is of good value to have a motorcycle background rather then coming from a Mercedes S class when starting a career as a Morgan driver:
one has the same intense experience, fresh air all around, luggage limitation, concentrated driving instead of relying on all these electronic helpers, not knowing anything about the physics that keep you going and you can influence by using your brains.
All these hightec machines can be driven by a fairly intelligent primate...
Those are the people who, when buying a Morgan just because they can afford it, fail soon...

I agree with you, Kurt.

I do some part-time work in a Harley dealers, and the workshop had an unusual vehicle in for a service last week. It was a Can-am Spyder, which USA members will know about, but in brief it's a 990cc in line vee-twin, with two wheels at the front and one at the rear. The machine is akin to a snow mobile, where you sit astride it and steer via handle bars, and motorcycle controls.

The owner has never ridden a bike in his life, and uses a loophole UK legislation to ride it on his car licence.

Consequently, he's terrified of it. Likes the acceleration, but is frightened to turn a corner & hates bends. The machine's only covered 1200 miles in two years..

I see an M3W as a sidecar outfit with comfort, and as an ex-Ural owner, I mean COMFORT..!!

I agree 100% with you Kurt, either bike or vintage car experience is essential. Understanding how a car works and how the parts interact is key to appreciating a Morgan.

To think a Morgan, especially a M3W is a car like the BMW 320i M Sport X drive and Mercedes E 350 CDI Sport Coupe we own would result in confusion, frustration and disappointment.

I'd go further: any dealer who sells a M3W to a person lacking the "right" attitude is going to end up with an unhappy owner.
Perhaps MMC should devise a pre-owner questionnaire to see if the prospect is the "right stuff" and decline to sell to those the assessment deems as not compatible!

Guilty too!! I passed my bike test at 16 - 49 years ago!

I have had so many Veteran,Vintage classic and modern bikes it would take too long to list them all - and remember them!

The M3W is for me clearly bikesk( is that a word?)

It helps IMHO to be a "biker" and an M3W owner - but not essential BTW!

Being a bike rider I think makes u a better car driver - safer and much more aware on the road - and the M3W falls into that category.

The appeal to me is the bike engine and the 3W heritage:))
