A day at the Chateau
No...not an exotic French Chateau but Worcestershire's own "French" chateau...the Chateau Impney at Droitwich where day one of the Classic and Sports Car and H&H Classics two day event is being held. Today was preview day for the H&H auction and I got a chance to have a look at some interesting cars and fall in love with a couple! Shame I don't have a spare garage...I don't want to sell the Morgan to make space...otherwise I might have been very tempted.
A real mix of car from barn finds ('58 Rolls Silver Cloud, '75 Alfa 2000 GTV..which looked pretty reasonable....the latter...NOT the Rolls!) to some modern stuff and in particular a lovely '02 Bentley Arnage that we all sat in and dreamt! The cars for me though were a rather lovely and quite rare '33 Singer Deluxe Sports 9 Coupe and a Healey 100/4, well fettled by Dennis Welch.
Whilst having coffee in the Chateau we met up with the owner...a real classic nut...and very charming...who showed us around and then took us out to see the hill climb course. It looks like it will be 2015 before it starts but whilst not particularly steep it looks fast and has some very tight off camber bends.
Back tomorrow (its only just down the road for me which makes a change!) to meet up with Wirewheel for a further browse

The red E Type was being privately sold outside, not part of the auction. It was a seriously nice car but remained unsold when I left. Nice price for the Arnage, a lot of car for the money but potential eye watering running costs. If I'd known what the green E Type was going to fetch I would have seriously considered entering the auction! A lovely car.

I've always loved the idea of a Bentley Arnage. If you could find a low mileage one with a full Bentley Dealer service history, you would have a fine car. Regular servicing is not horrendous; the costs come if something breaks.

Just browsing through the auction results.... how about a 1967 Triumph Spitfire Mk2 selling for £15680. it was very nicely restored but..... I see the rather well worn '79 Plus 8 went for £23,520. Solid looking body but well patinated paint and interior.

As a left field option, lot 51 the 1934 Rolls Royce 20/24 Limosine looks fabulous for £28,560. Just in time for the next series of Downton Abbey http://www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions...sine-37389.aspxCould be a great way to travel to the Le Mans Classic, 2014, me in the chauffeurs uniform up front doing the driving... I know my place, and anyway I always fancied the ideal of playing the upwardly mobile chauffeur role in the jodhpurs, long boots and peaked cap

Phillip, you've probably been watching too much Downton Abbey....didn't the chauffeur get seduced by a young Lady?

I wasn't thinking about it that way John Yes thinking about it, the Young Lady would have to have a white stick! Me... In a pair of jodhpurs... Definitely more Humpty Dumpty than Mr Darcey
