John the mgb gt rear tail board is located with these:
36 - Dzus fastener - Tailboard BHA4537 [36]
Price: £6.16 Including VAT at 20%
Have a look at the MGOC web site. The exploded diagram is not that good but they looked neat and worked well on my GT. (No rattles as they pull the ply board down)

Bob, I'd considered Dzus fasteners but as it's to go with some leather and stainless trim I was looking for something a bit classier......read flash! They won't be hidden under the carpet !

The fact that you have to remove the carpet to get at the tool tray is a bit annoying isn't it. I have considered making that area a little deeper too. In that way things such as the triangles, hi-vis vest, cleaning cloths etc could be kept tidily out of sight.

John,
I've not taken the tool tray shelf off yet, but from looking through the little hatch for the battery and crawling under the car there seems to be a lot of wasted space, especially on the non battery side.
So, it seems to me that a new "floor" fitting with a nice deep cubby on the drivers side would be possible, ideal for holding 6 bottles of wine or other critical supplies, should be possible.

John I am afraid you will be disappointed. Although it looks like there is plenty of room you have to allow for the suspension travel, Incursion of the shock absorbers, the differential etc. etc. I have replaced the tray on my roadster having been through four on two cars. Mine is built from aluminium by a local sheet metal works to a pattern I produced from cardboard. True to say though that you can create a much more useful space. Looks very good Andy  Like Oz 4/4's engine cover posted earlier this week, it looks so good that you could market it, much better than the flock covered plastic MMC original equipment.
