You need to allow two inches over the diff case.

Brilliant! That is exactly what I was thinking about and just waht I want.....

So I'll have to look at getting one made, possibly in 1.5mm stainless so it can't corrode.

I followed your idea on my Plus 4 and built one from wood. It was a bit weighty and I forgot to allow for the breather on top of the axle and it made a bit of a mess of it on a trip to Le Mans. Hence I went for the aluminium when I swapped to the Roadster

Mine punched a hole through when the rear damper bracket broke....

I'll be doing one for Bumble, but haven't quite decided whether to do a repeat with wood, or a composite wood/aluminium.

In theory all later cars will have the same dimensions, so it's hard to understand why nobody has productionised the tool tray.
Or a lower cowl for that matter. A simple lower cowl can be knocked out for next to nothing. But then there's the 'fitting' and painting.

Surely the tool tray is productionised? And lower cowl? Don't Morgan make a lower cowl? Was tempted to have one fitted.

Not sure that the different cars are the same. I made my wood model for a 2009 +4. Although it was damaged I tried it in the 2011 Roadster to see if I could use it as a pattern and it would not fit. The issue was around the shock absorber mounting area. I used it as the basic pattern and translated it into cardboard which I then modified to fit.

There are certainly subtle variations under the rear deck. The plastic tray fits because its plastic and shallow. Making these in bulk in metal is very risky if each one has to be worked to fit, and contacts anything around the axle, especially the brake pipe. This must be why nobody has taken the plunge, because it would be a good seller.
Morgan make a lower cowl Jay, but the basic cowl is just a pressed metal box to deflect air into the lower radiator. For a while they advertised the 'lower cowl' which extends the standard cowl below the number plate box or full bumper, but this was no longer listed last time I looked.
Then there's the Aero Racing front splitter with two circular holes - at a price. But for Bumble I just wanted a simple cover, and they don't offer one.

Morgan still advertise the lower cowl on their website.
