I have been testing my BT broadband speed using the 'ookla speedtest' app. I am getting about 6.5mbps on the download and 0.35 on the upload. The latter figure is relevant to posting photos so I wonder what other people are getting in the way of broadband speeds. I live in 'semi-rural' south bucks (stokenchurch in fact).

Both excellent for normal copper BT broadband.
The max upload is in theory 0.384 meg and you are just about there.

I leave in a rural area and up until a week ago my speeds were 2 and 0.25 so you're doing we'll.
Our local exchange was upgrade a few weeks back and we've managed to get our speed upgraded not on 16 and 3. Key is distance from exchanged bad were luckily just under a mile from the last piece of fibre on the system.
Try the BT Openreach site and see if you can get a faster speed. As with everything in life it'll cost though.

I'm with Taltalk business 4.03Mb download and 0.7Mb upload. Living in very rural Devon about 1/2 mile from where some of the transatlantic cables are landed if that is a factor.

Virgin is giving me a genuine 120mbps download via cable but only 50 via wireless. I need to upgrade my hub.

With a business line on normal BT copper it's possible to get .760 Meg upload.

I can but dream... Last time I checked I got about 0.6M download It was 2M when I first got broadband but it's got slower as more people use the system & BT don't upgrade their bits. Ian

The tech changes on this constantly. Generally nearer the exchange or the green cabinet ( assuming its on the fibre network ) the better.
Our last offices were rural and we'd experimented with satellite broadband (waste of time if it rains) best solution we found was bonded broadband, 4 broadband lines connected together with some special kit. Technically this doesn't exist though.
The amazing thing about all of this though is that when we were on the Nordkapp trip we managed to get 3G signals in tunnels at we're miles long in the middle of the countryside.

dont understand. Just run a speed check and its saying download 11 mbps upload 1.02 but we are in the country and on normal BT landline. Just repeated with ookla and it gave 11.43 and 1.02
So am I measuring something else or what. PC connected to router by cable, latest BT socket incoming direct to router. Green cabinet half a mile away

I could not understand getting 16+ download rates at the in-laws in rural Perthshire over Hogmanay.
