I think you missed an important role from Marks role so I've taken the liberty of editing your post. .

Gents given that Marks is now participating can I make a suggestion that before we let loose on here with problems would it be an idea to PM him first to give him a chance to look into it. Looking at Mark's PM and the timings of posts it would appear he's been shot down before he had a chance.

Given the man has been stupid brave enough to step into the arena shouldn't we at least give him a chance. hide

Mark would you be happy with this?

Well done Asbo, and I agree entirely.

Those of you who read my posts will know I've been trying to promote communication between the factory and TM for some time now, basically to use customer feedback to improve the product be that M3W, Trad or Aero, and I've already expressed welcome to Mark (see previous entry in this thread).

I also PM'd Simon to welcome this development, but caution that there could be an adverse effect on the forum's dynamic. The great benefit of TM is, as has already been discussed, the frank and open exchange of information; the good, the bad and the ugly. Mark's decision to join the forum openly is a courageous one, and one that should be welcomed and supported by us all. However, if this results in all issues being PMs to Mark rather than public sharing, then I fear this is a negative consequence, almost a form of censorship.

So, once again welcome Mark... but please, please try to keep to the open exchange format and don't get dragged into private only exchanges that will surely leave those outside the discussion feeling marginalised or excluded. This will no doubt be difficult initially, but hopefully pay dividends in the longer term, not least in terms of customer confidence smile

Mike my point here is that we don't know whats been happening in the background and we don't know if he's aware. As I've stated elsewhere its easy for the dealers to shift the blame to the someone else.

I personally would like Mark to stay around but if he's going to get both barrels this won't last long.

Maybe if people are get concerning messages from dealers it would be a wise idea to PM Mark first to ensure that it is correct. If that's then the case let everyone know.

I'd rather we had this type of approach than Mark or getting in the next for something not agreed.

Lets see if we get some feedback from the conversation which will hopefully happen today.

I don't feel we should be getting ahead of ourselves here. Mark has posted once and very specifically with a message to one of our regular contributors, this doesn't mean he is intending, or even willing, to put put his head on the block.

I think it would be useful and good PR to have a factory voice here from time to time, it also makes the factory guys more human rather than just a name. When Ansar Ali was CEO of Caterham Cars, he used to not only monitor the club forums, but contribute from time to time as well, not a lot, but just enough that people knew he was around. I think it did the world of good and people respected him for it.

We will have to wait and see what Mark intends to do, if he feels that it would be a good thing to contribute, then welcome, if not, I'm sure we all understand.

I agree with that entirely. Mr Evans would be wise to delete his phone number from his post above and I think it would be wrong for people on this forum to pester him with calls or private messages. But I do hope that he and others at MMC continue to monitor this site and to contribute occasionally.

While you are on here, Mr Evans (I see your name on "Who's Online"), would you please clarify something: can the so-called "Comfort Pack" be fitted by dealers (especially for those of us who live in foreign parts) or is a return to the factory obligatory (and if so, why?)? I have been pestering my dealer about this and he has been trying to get an answer from the factory, so far without success.

Unfortunately, this rarely (in fact I can only think of a few examples) happens. How do I know? Well, because I (Andy, Brian and John) have intervened on many occasions to assist owners with their issues at dealer/factory level and almost none of them ever mention the positive resolution.

I find it quite sad.

As for Mark being involved - he isn't the only MMC member with an account; however, he is one of the few (perhaps only?) to use his real name. I would guess that he will use the forum on his own time and if this is the case, perhaps he would rather not be bombarded with questions - time will tell.

The phone number is the main reception one so no harm in it being posted. Getting hold of Mark of course is another matter...he's quite elusive! Sorry Mark, had to drop that one in! hide He's a busy man and as a result not always that easy to track down!

Well I have to say that Mark Evans has gone a long way to gaining my trust. The factory clearly identified his skills and have him in the right position.

It is easy to read the wrong thing into brief emails and it helped having a chat and removing my "emotion". Not that I am a sensitive soul as an ex military diver and rugby player!

He spoke to me at length today and was open and honest. He clarified the factory solutions. The factory have looked at how long it takes to do the three mods and cut the cost to the bone so that is a great step forward. Factory labour is less than your franchised BMW / Land Rover / Jaguar etc.

I am a simple mariner so I hope that I am not misleading anyone here. I agree with earlier posts as to the value of the forum and the great quantum leap we have made getting Mark on here. So I hope there is no Chinese whispers here but this is my understanding. "Send three and four pence we are going to a dance…….".

The Noise Vibration Harshness upgrade takes eight hours in the factory and is an engine and gearbox out job. Sounds to me like it is a "soft" bed on which to fit the bevel box.

The comfort pack is basically spacers to align the front end and alleviate bump steer but retaining the spas shocks. He says the difference in before and after drive is amazing. I am sure this is straightforward for dealers worldwide to carry out. Basic automotive engineering.

I'm not sure about the content of the cooling upgrade. Mind you I would love to drive abroad so might be handy.

He has agreed to confirm in email the conversation we had on my various issues. I am ever hopeful that the car can now be sorted.

Lets keep the faith.
