I would try to fiddle a little more. I asked for my Brooklands at 12 o'clock and had the emblem done that way. The way it fitted to the quick release on my steering column meant I had to take it apart and turn through 90 degrees. I t was a little fiddly for my abilities but I got it sorted. If stuck call John at Kimble Engineering, he is very helpful.

I have to say I thought it was only me that had such a run of bad luck at times..!!

Donaldosaurus - it's not locating the "ridge" that's the problem (I also had to take it off and rotate it, 180 degrees though not 90, to get the locating "notch" at 12 o'clock). It's getting it to fully move forward, into the steering cowl and locked on, that doesn't happen.

I'll just hang it on the wall and look at it until Morgan Belgium is open next week. At least I can still drive the car this time

Great looking motor, on the steering wheel front I check mine with my first finger every time I drive it. If I cannot slide my finger between the sliding collar on the boss and the steering column shroud I know the wheel is on and good to go. If my finger goes in its not all the way home.

Update: I finally found a sunny day when I could manage to get both the wheel and the car to the dealer during opening hours.

The issue has been fixed: the four central bolts were too long, preventing the release mechanism from pulling back far enough to release the little ball bearings and fit over the steering column. An angle grinder was applied and the bolts were "adjusted" - now fits no problem. Can't quite believe that it was supplied like this.. but there you go!

I recall reading about a bolt length issue before with the quick release...on here somewhere I am sure.

It's illegal as far as I know to sell a car with a removeable steering wheel, so although the Quick-Release mechanism is supplied by the factory, the bolts that secure it do not allow removal of the wheel, as designed. But if you happen to notice this and cut down the bolts, most people discover a new facility that was not there at time of purchase
