I agree with Martyn, higher tyre pressure is good for stability - a bit more in the front end.
My -99 4/4 went from unpleasantly unstable to very stable when I raised tyre pressure to 28 in the rear and 26 in front as recommended by a very experienced Brittish 'Morgan person'. FYI my car is fitted with adjustable AVO's in the rear and the Suplex/Bilstein kit in front.
P.S. I should add that I have no previous personal experience of 'light weight cars' like Morgan, other than 2CV that is...

Chunky4/4Racer are the Avon's you recommend the CR6ZZ or another type of AVON.

I punt my car quite hard on these tyres and struggle to see what the problem is?
Perhaps tyre pressures?

I had the standard Conti tyres on my 4/4 Sport. Changed them for Avon CR6ZZ's in 175 size and they worked very well in dry or wet. The only hassle was the tendency to pick up grit.
If I was honest I'd say that the handling was more fun on the Contis.....ok, they didn't grip as well as the Avons but I could get the back end out on them in the dry and that was more fun!

33,000 miles on Contis on my 4/4 and no issues. I agree with Jays that on the 4/4 Contis allow loads of control and loads of fun.

I've still got a pair in my garage, 6000 miles or so on them, in good condition and free to anyone who wants them......otherwise off to the tip!

It is rumoured that you have more spare parts in your garage than they have at the factory?  I do have the complete induction bits off my 4/4 in a box....filter, housing, throttle body, injectors etc which Aero Racing stripped off my car when it went onto throttle bodies. Wasn't going to let them have it all but no one seems to want it! Ditto my bonnet halves!

Jays you just weren't trying hard enough!! You can still drift on the Avons but it's a more controlled drift, not an all out drift that is hard to catch at speed like on the contis.
