Looks like I will be leaving you lot. After 2 years of ownership I have decided I need a car just a little more waterproof so am moving on. I was originally one of the many who moved from a Maserati 3200 to the aero and have had a real problem on deciding what to have next. I probably should have asked here but thought I would just be told to stick with the Aero and get a MKiii or MKiv.

So I have just decided after a sleep less week on a Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe or what ever they call it. 6.6l V8 Roush 515HP in a car weighing 1300kg a bit of a hand full I think but hear goes. Have I done wrong?
What would you have brought?
Is there life after an Aero?

Take care Neil

New set of Heir Hunter programs coming up in the summer.

Neil the Daytona coupe is a good looking car and matches the sense of occasion a person would experience behind the wheel of a Morgan. I considered a Cobra when I sold the S3 but didn't fit comfortably in it.

In terms of what to buy to replace a Morgan, I can honestly say I do not think there is a real competitor to the Aero 8. I know people mention the Weismann but I personally wouldn't agree – I know they share BMW sourced power plants but to my mind, like the Prowler and a few other retro-moderns, they end up looking like a pastiche of a classic rather than a genuine quality product… all imho.

I think you’ve probably chosen the most logical type of car – in other words, a car which is defined by the personality of it (again: sense of occasion) rather than genre.

Did you buy from Rod Leach?

(ps – you don’t have to move on, you can stay and chat… many other people have! wink )

Goodbye - and good luck. Gorgeous new choice of car; but while it may leak, it will be even less practical for everyday use!

Disagree with Simon - the latest Weismanns with the bonded aluminium chassis are lovely things - saw a couple in Monaco and they really are very good looking. No more of a retro pastiche than an Aero!

Made of fibreglass though. Yuck.

Beautiful car...what a dilemma to have eh!

you could always look out for a little old trad 4/4 for the weekend...keep a foot in both camps and you can still enjoy the frivolity of this website.

cheers
