From around 2002 a lot of 4/4 have the wider wings as fitted to +4 & +8 - so called 'lowline'. These are 6" wider than my '93, 7" over my '76.

Yes, that's a good point. I too admire the proportions of older 4/4s and older wings. Does this maybe have something to do with the standardisation of the wings in the "post- superform" era? I think it does: I was talking to the guys at New Elms and if I understood correctly now there are only two sizes of wings, the body shop has to make them fit, either wide wheels or narrow wheels.

My 2004 built 4/4 has superform wings but the narrow rear wings (in fact narrow front wings too, measured by the headlight/indicator positions) as shown on the photo of Budster's Stanley. So it's not specifically a superform thing. The axle width and wheel width/offset will be relevant too. I suspect the wider front wings will be why a newer 4/4 can accommodate 185 section tyres without rubbing.

Budsters wheels are identical to the ones I had in my 4/4 . As Alberto suggests I wonder if Morgan changed the rear axle at some stage for a slightly wider one?

At last I have bitten on the bullet and invested in Suplex upgrade. Chunky 4/4 and Tom have done a magnificent job. The handling is so improved and the steering much lighter. I have no hesitation in recommending this upgrade. Also had the remote front suspension greasing nipple mods done. And finally.. bought the XenonUltim headlight bulb pack. The improvement in the headlight performance is astonishing. The Williams team were outstanding. What a happy, professional and customer focused organisation! Madge will be going back there for her annual service.

Williams are a long way to travel from Bedford, especially when you have other closer options. But yes, Williams are not Morgan Dealer of the Year again for nothing. I have nothing but respect for their cheerful, efficient professionalism. As to the Suplex front end job, what is not to like? It converts a lumbering truck into a svelte dancer! Well almost. It is interesting that there are stories that the factory seems to be planning to offer a model specific "Suplex Type" front usupension upgrade.

It must be just me then. Two phone calls and an email and they still haven't got back to me. Same thing last time I dealt with them. Not pleased too read this. Mike I've just sent you a PM. Regards Lawrie
