Took a lovely 4/4 to the Le Mans Classic in 2012 (thanks Brands Hatch Morgan). Used a mix of Autoroute and A road in the interest of time. This year I'm borrowing a M3W - and looking for less Autoroute/ more pleasure wink Wondering what people recommend from previous pilgrimages and how long it took?
Thanks.

Much cheaper than running your own. Have a great trip. Highlight is stopping at either side of petrol pump!

An alternative is to drive to Portsmouth and get the Wednesday evening Britany Ferry to St Malo. At least 4 TMers booked and the ferry will be mainly occupied by classic cars en route to the Classic.

Unfortunately corporate holiday limits time available to 3 day trip - and have already booked Dover crossing.

Stringers - rest assured I am at least paying for the cars smile Will know for sure after this trip if the M3W that hooked me on a test drive in 2012 moves onto the "buy" list! Might have to start thread entitled "justifying an M3W to the my wife"

What ferry are you booked on? We're on the 07:35 on Thursday 3rd out of Dover.

Sensibly, given the limited time you've got available and the distances involved, I'd suggest the A16 past Boulogne to Abbeville (used to be toll free Autoroute, but I'm not sure today), then the A28 at least as far as Rouen.

By the time you've negotiated Rouen ooo you may be ready to pick up the A13 and then the A28 again to Le Mans.

Perhaps not the idea M3W route, but practical; otherwise it could be all Route Nationale journey and little time at Le Mans...
On second thoughts the latter may be quite a good outcome drive depending of course on your objectives wink

P.S. Just thought... you may need to watch out for all those Spitfire green M3Ws with the bullet hole decals given your TM moniker, hope you've got a tail gunner wink

We're doing Classic again this year - 2x M3W's and a Ferrari 400i - and we don't fancy the nearly 300 mile slog from Calais. So we're doing Newhaven-Dieppe with DFDS (LDLines) on the 10am Fri 4th July, back Sunday evening. Only one day off school and the route from Dieppe to Le Mans is very nice and just the right distance (about 170 miles ish). Should be fun....
