Just watched it and being a past Escort fan I enjoyed it. Personally a would have liked more detail on the rebuild but I can see how that might be considered boring for the majority of watchers. So a thumbs up from me.
Pretty much the same for me. As a crossflow Morgan owner I was hoping to see more about the engine, but nevertheless an entertaining programme. I'm pleased that there is a place for this kind of programme at what is effectively Sunday evening peak time on a mainstream channel, and given the slot it was pretty much as I expected it to be.
The highlight for me was bringing together the Scouser ex car thief and the retired policeman. The copper's delight in seeing the restored Mexico police car car appeared genuine, as was the ex-scally's comment that it was his first ride in the front seat!
I too was stunned at the how much a genuine Mexico wreck is apparently worth.
I'm greatly looking forward to the rest of the series, especially the MG.
Comparing this with Chanel 5's "Classic Car Rescue" I felt the Ch 5 program was more interesting, more technical substance and just as entertaining. At least both presenters can drive.
The last one was about the Fiat 500. Memories...all 12 bhp of them!

Totally agree but the quality of the Mexico rebuild was far superior.
I watched it and was rather disappointed. I have watched "Wrecks to Riches" recently - and although that is American, and fills 60min time slot with a 30min programme - you actually see them restore the car.
When I say restore - I mean convert to a "Super Muscle Car" - either way - it is a lot better than last night.

Of course some cars should never be restored but just driven as they are...to give us all enjoyment. This was a Dodge Coronet, totally unrestored and still on crossplies....cornering on its door handles and tramping like mad!

I'm having a MK1 RS2000 restored at the moment by probably THE number one RS man in the country. He said he'd been to look at that car when it was in the lock up and offered 6500 but could have been bought for a little more. Problem was so much was missing.
His view was that the restoration had turned it into a boy racers car and was a shame it wasn't restored properly as they are about the rarest of the fast Escorts
