Seriously thinking about upgrading from my beloved 4/4, initial thoughts were Plus 4 but the more I think about it the more I get tempted to dig deeper for the Roadster....appreciate extra running costs etc but it will never be a daily drive so what does it matter...appreciate any guidance on offer even arguments to stick with current mog....think I need help, gone all twitchy can't think about anything else....not felt like this since I saw Drew Barrymore in Charlies....

Oh no! Another 4/4 owner thinking of getting a Roadster. I'm sure there will be quite a few suggestions. Simon, are you getting led down the primrose path by your compatriots?  Whatever you choose Tuftie, I can't imagine you being disappointed and whilst I know that isn't much help, at least it is satisfying to know.

Simon, are you getting led down the primrose path by your compatriots? A few are trying, both in the Roadster camp and the (old style) +8 camp But I do like the narrow body/wheel style of the 4/4. Classic looks IMHO! Also I suspect that some of their motivation is to remove the annoyance of seeing Stanley large in their rear-view mirrors. However if I was to buy one, it would mean selling Stanley and I'm not sure that the lovely Lady Budster would forgive me.

If I had the money for a new Morgan it would be a Plus 4 I'd be after, no question about it in my mind.
Not that I'd actually buy a new one from MMC of course, I'd save myself a few thousand by going for a recent second hand one with the 2l Duratec, then take it to a specialist like Kevin Vernon and spend the rest of the budget on getting it properly sorted.

Hi Tuftie,
My old Plus 4 was great, and if someone said 'That's the car" - I would be quite happy.
However, after two 3.0 litre Roadsters - I would not buy anything else!
I wouldn't br tempted by the 3.7, but would stick with the 3.0 litre.
Try the Plus 4 and the 3.0 litre Roadster, as they are "chalk and cheese".

I love my 2.0l Duratec: lots of torque and smooth at the same time.
I initially tried both engines (car dealer, of course, had me try the roadster first ;-) but here's why I ended up not:
- price,
- fuel efficiency,
- less legroom (centre console slightly bigger),
- instruments on dashboard ("Mustang" style while mines are Smith)

vMog is a 2013 +4/ 4 seater, dark red with saddle brown trim, wooden dashboard and console.

This has changed on the model-year-2014 Roadster - the centre tunnel has been reduced to create more room (amongst a few other MY14 changes)

Definitely a Roadster. I had the +4 that replaced a +8 but always felt it lacked some puff on occasions. Bought the Roadster and its so much better than both the +4 and +8. I am with you that the running costs are not the issue when you want to have fun
Mine is a 3l and I imagine the 3.7l is even more fun
Go for it.
