Can't say what a Roadster "feels" like so I can only say the +4 was everything I wanted/dreamed, and some more.

I am in the "Go for a Roadster camp", I had a 4/4 Sport and the Roadster I bought offered me firstly great overtaking, the 3l is blistering and there is no hanging about waiting for the perfect moment, then hoping a 1.6 Sigma decides to get going. The easy up roof, with it's access to the rear area behind the seats and the time saving when the rain came. A spare wheel, none available on the 4/4 sport, not only for a flat but also made the back end of the car look more resistant to a rear end shunt. Hope this helps

I started with a 4/4 Runabout about 10 years ago, but soon got the bug. I got a new 3l Roadster in 2005, covered about 30,000 miles in 5 years, then it committed hari kari so I got a new Roadster to replace it, the 3.7 one. Of the two, I reckon the 3l was the better...

I have had an older +4, a 2002 +8 and two 2008 +4's and the +4's are without doubt the best Morgans I have ever owned. I can't get enough time behind the present cars wheel.

Tufft idé, i had a 1959 +4 for 28 years together with a 1954 TR2 for 30 years. Parter My +4 for a 2004 Roadster two years ago and got 16000 pounds for it. It snowboard-SM for sale for 44000 pounds. The old +4:s are The REAL Mog for many fundamentalists. However I do not regnet it for a second. The Roadster is a wondeful Car and it is fat. I like it with My Librands sport exhaust as it now stunds as a sports Car is supposed to sound.

Yes, that will do - tootle, anyway I was in a point and squirt mood today in the Plus 4 ( read somewhere that it is supposed to have the same power to weight ratio as a Golf Gti you know)

But when I was in full squirt mode, a car pulled in front of me and I nearly came a cropper.

Then it occurred to me that while it might have the speed of a modern hot hatch, it lacks the air bags and other 5 * Euro crash stuff, so I decided to go back to tootling.

Now, on the theory that power corrupts, I am sticking with my existing (tootling) power on the basis that, at speed - s**t happens that you can't always control.

Before I defected to the Elise camp I had three mogs, 2 4/4 Sports and a 3L Roadster. Now the dust has settled and I can look back through a long lens the one I enjoyed the most was the first 4/4 Sport in black, it wasn't the best built or most reliable (that was no. 2 4/4 Sport in ivory) or the quickest (Roadster - almost so effortless to make speeding pointless) though I did catch a Cayman napping on the Fosse one evening and I ran it at 4000 + rpm for an hour between Vierzon and Tours early one memorable afternoon, and if I was tempted back to Pickersleigh Road it would be a 4/4.

Edit, on the two occasions I drove a + 4 they just didn't do it for me

We hired a 4/4 for 3 days, tried a +4 and bought a 2009 3L Roadster.

Why?

Power, torqe and it makes us smile.

As a touring car the effortless ability is what makes it: last week driving round Jersey the car was mostly in 3rd, it will ease away from 10 mph and with a 40mph limit 3rd is all you need.

But on the run back in the UK from the ferry it is happy on the motorway at 80 in 5th.

Yes you can drive it like a holigan and wok the box, but there isn't any real need....

So, my take is if you want a sharp, revvy motor as a "sports" car go for the +4, but if you want a torque monster for touring then the 3.0L Roadster is the way forward.
