Hoping that pure opinion with no recriminations allowed, my take having owned 4/4, +8 and roadster 3L, and driven my brother's +4, that if you want the merry blast around lanes absolutely nothing beats a good 4/4 (which one is a good 4/4 is another whole topic), it is total grinfactor all the time every journey.
If you want effortless touring, staggering overtaking power (almost motorbike like passing long sets of cars) then the roadster is king. An amazing car, but a little staid in the real world of current traffic because you tend to stay in one gear all the time, there's so much power available. Noise is not brilliant.
Here's my controversial bit. For me the plus 4 falls between two stools. Not as much power as roadster, not as much fun as the balanced 4/4.
Just my opinion though, I know many won't agree with me.
Basically I love them all and would be happy in any of them.

Had a very brief 'go' in a new Roadster at Allon Whites this morning. Impressed by the enormous torque, power and refinement, but less impressed by the narrow foot wells, dashboard and pedal layout.

Reginald, my beautiful 4/4, is safe for a while yet.

Thanks one and all, that's clear then......am also struggling with the emotional attachment to present Mog, feel somewhat disloyal but still twitching...

One will jump out and grab you one day when you least expect it! Any thoughts of disloyalty will be instantly banished only to appear once the deal is done!

I am probably more loyal to my fleet than most on here, who seem to change cars more often than I change my underpants, but a moments loss of concentration can easily fuel infidelty. It really only takes one test drive. In fact I had this conversation at the VW dealers a couple of weeks ago, about test driving a Golf GTI. I was advised not to until I was ready to buy one - so I didn't. Thoughts of betrayal are never far away.
A yellow Plus 8 from the early nineties for example......

Or a sunburst orange anything for that matter.

In my case Morgan ownership is a one-way-only road. Unless in case of absolute need I don't plan to sell my Plus 4 and my future Brookie M3W. If anything the stable can only grow in the future.

Funny that I met recently another Morgan owner (at the hill climb). He owns 3 Morgans. One 4/4, one +4 two seater and one +4 four seater. When I asked why he had all those he explained why he bought them (one new, two used, from friends that needed to sell). And then he told me "and once you buy them, you just can't sell them." I understood him well.

But I guess you guys in the UK don't feel this ...rarity ... because you have excellent dealers with cars to sell that flirt you for new deals. Here, Morgan isn't a brand you relate to as you do with others. There's no stand to go and watch cars for sale, you just contact the dealer and order a new car. Or you try to find an used for sale, but their price (when rarely available, I think there's none at the moment) is almost the same as in new. So ... you buy them, and you don't sell them.
