i was thinking of making a Talk Morgan "Tax Disc" to fit in the holder. The holder on my 4/4 is a nice turned Aluminium job fixed to the inside of the screen.

If you are a National Trust member then you could always use it for your parking sticker?

Very occasionally we see a camera van on the A36 betwen Salisbury and Southampton. I know Wiltshire Police traffic cars all have the ability to read and check, but again there are only a handfull to cover the county and to be honest they have more important priorities.

If you look carefully at the entry to most towns, you will see a blue pole with a small camera on the top. Not the green ones with a square faced camera, those are TrafficMaster.

The Police will automatically get informed if a vehicle of interest passes one of these. They are also used to automatically generate letters to remind you to get a tax disc.

I'm happy to get rid of the tax disc. It's one less thing to have to mess around with, and (to my mind) spoils the look of some windscreens. It's nice you can pay monthly now too...

cheers,

Jon.

I'd wondered what they were...

Traffic Master cameras are yesterday's technology. Most of the live traffic information now comes from the mobile phone networks, they can monitor the speed at which phones are moving from cell to cell. That is how the information on my BMW Sat Nav works. What I haven't worked out is how the data is sent to and received by the car!

Jon, nice avatar - R22?

Peter (ALderMog), I haven't seriously looked into it, but I believe the traffic data is updated via a digital stream added to vhf FM broadcast radio, at least that's the impression I get when updating the SatNav. I'll spend some time one day and look it all up...

Peter (recycled teenager), nice idea, but I'd need at least two NT stickers every year. At present, the sticker is placed on a square of perspex, placed on the dash of whichever car we have used for our visit... Haven't lost it from the Mog yet, but one day...

I will miss it, I rather think it goes with the Morgan to be honest, I think it sits well in the corner of the windscreen. At the moment plan to just leave the current one where it is but quite like the idea of the birthday one.
