Surely the purpose of retaining salvage rights is to retain control of a historic or classic vehicle which may contain irreplaceable parts that could otherwise go for scrap. Whereas it may give the opportunity for a cash windfall, I do not think it is the intention of the provision in the policy.

Quite possibly... but then again.. TBH. very few Mogs fall into that catagory.

Think I'll decline that particular offer, but take up the 'Morgan Rescue' breakdown & recovery for £24.15 - includes Europe. Total cost £336.01 for unlimited mileage (Headley Insurance Services t/a Morgan Insurance Consultants).
Agreed value @ £35k....

Quite possibly... but then again.. TBH. very few Mogs fall into that catagory. Of course they do! Paul rightly recognises that at one year old his car is little different from a car coming off the production line. However the owner of a Plus 8 may not consider a Roadster to be a worthy replacement and would prefer to re-build. The Insurance Company may deem the car to be an economic write-off whereas the Owner will use a different set of values when making the decision. Recent posts on this forum indicate that some prefer Series 1 Aero 8's over later models. That being so salvage rights would be of value, particularly if you have the skills of Yuri.

In the case of a salvaged car it is my belief that you would be best to make a rebuild decision based on facts rather than emotional attachment. There are a few p&js that have been put back on the road after cataclysmic damage and are a shadow of their former selves. It is, without a shadow of doubt, a head v head decision in many cases. Once I hope none of us have to decide upon for ourselves.
