Thanks to some precise measurement by Milligoon I have just discovered that Aldermog has cut outs for the speakers already in place behind the carpet lining the footwells.  If you don't have speakers and wonder if fitting them is an option measure up from the floor 9" and forward from the door frame 4.5" and you should be about in the centre of the hole. Dimensions warrented only for a S2 Roadster, but probably apply to all wide body long door cars. So I have no need to cut out the holes. I wonder if there will be speaker wires in place too? To be honest the fitting isn't in the best place, but there are few options. I'm also concerned about the depth behind the panel as I suspect it is very restricted, so limiting the possibility for fitting really good quality speakers because they have big magnets. The next job is to sort out a head unit and tweeters for the dash ends. The buy a load of Dynamat to line the footwells, doors and scuttle/body sides to keep the noise down. This wil be a winter job, I'm sure. Along with the rear toolbox as per Dave Ws description!

Open up the radio slot Peter to check for wiring. Not all cars came ready wired up.

Peter, why considering high end speakers? I am sure wt all that driving noise, no one will be able to hear the difference...

Dynamat, all that weight, I thought you were going hill climbing, or is it a drive in the country to Vivaldi

Both, Both dear boy!  The additional weight is no more than half a tank of fuel and the anti roll bar weighs a hell of a lot more than audio, dynamat and a load of other stuff!

BertR Agreed, but the bigger the magnet the louder the speaker will go without distorting so making listening possible at higher speed. Lining out the front cockpit with dynamat also helps keep noise out, making life easier for the speakers at low to mid speed. Above 60 the audio is fairly pointless.

Mine works well enough top down screens on at 70
Not sure dynamic would be needed with the materials in these cars maybe a little on the ally skin directly behind the speakers would not go amiss but not much else I would think.

The heavier it is the slower it is, even though you will have a roll bar (a must) any other weight saving is good. You will find most will remove carpets, spare wheels and anything else that comes off with ease. If you have full bumpers, time to buy overriders. Also more weight means more kinetic energy to stop and get round corners. Hill climbers look for every kilo because in 40-60 second dash it makes a difference.

No one ever considers the weight of the driver when talking about gaining extra performance. Perhaps in some cases, a diet would be more effective than some of the solutions one reads about on the net. Of course, I am not suggesting anyone on TM should consider such a solution, but it is a thought.
