There is no doubt that weight of the machinery plays an important part in the dynamics of the car And the feeling of solidity. Adding lightness will improve performance and for track work is the easiest way to go but for day to day road use the weight helps make the vehicle feel more solid. Having said that, lightweight mudguards would seem a relatively easy and sensible mod.

I had an Exige S2 S and it was short of creature comforts.
Not easy for a fat bloke like me to get in and out. Im not that elegant getting in and out of the M3W

I just found out that in the 1980s, Triking built a 1340 Harley powered version for a Harley agent. Reportedly it had a lot of transmission problems. I don't what what transmission it was or if they used any kind of compensator - which makes me wonder what the practice was for the Ace Cycle car? But, Alan at Triking felt at the time, that the problem was due to powerful and uneven torque spikes hitting the transmission while propelling something heavier the usual application. Which takes me back to my original observation that a modestly loaded M3W is going to be 400lbs heavier than S&S's max recommended load - not that the engine lacks power. My question would be then, what if anything did Morgan do to compensate for the difference besides adding a compensator?

Not that it's a big difference in torque pulses, but Liberty only used the Harley "B" motors with the internal counterbalance shafts to smooth the motor.
In new Harley Softail bikes, the motor is mounted rigidly to the frame and all Softails use the "B" motors.
The "A" motors like mine have to be rubber mounted in the frame to isolate the vibration.
I'm thinking Liberty used a comp of some sort, but the motors were probably not larger than 96", unlike the S&S 120" motors.
