The other day I sold my guitar to a man with no arms . I said: " What are you going to do with it?" He replied : "Just gonna play it by ear".

I have an old 5-string. Home made by an old friend of the family who was quite good at making all sorts of things (even a grandfather clock...).
But, as I'm semi-tone deaf, can't play or sing (at least, not in tune - can't even claim Eric Morecombe's response to Andre Previn! grin2 )

I had a Les Paul Custom, now have just 3, a Yamaha acoustic, a 1980 Hondo 335 with DeMarzios and a 1981 Hondo. Telecaster, really good quality from the period when the Japs were copying and being sued by Gibson and Fender. Shame is I can't play any of them beyond a few things I learnt 20 years ago. Pity as I like them. Also have a studio amp and I think some pedals somewhere... More stuff I should clear out really as I'm never going to be any good at it. Peter Green was my hero, superb melodic guitarist before he went off the rails.. Such a waste of talent.

I'm a player. 20 or so guitars inc a strat but no les paul...though I love les' playing. Mostly into gypsy jazz now so most of my guitars are acoustic/jazz.
Played in lots of rock bands over the years though almost always using strats or steinbergers.
In a rather unmorganlike way, these days my favourite two guitars are made of carbon fibre...no wood......but they are so reliable. They can be tuned at home, driven to a gig even an open air one and played without any tuning issues.Peace of mind in performance.

yes, four, two electrics and two acoustic electrics: A Fender Stratocaster and a rare and fantastic Schecter Strat made of rosewood. The acoustic electrics: a Takamine and my favourite: a Yamaha Apx-8D. I used to play very actively in the eighties and the nineties but these days only playing in the sofa to annoy the swmbo

rofl

I'd love to be able to play but I struggle. Probably too impatient for results. I've a modest 5 string acoustic, a banjo and a fiddle and like to make a noise on each of them....usually timed for when the neighbour is away!
