I whole heartedly agree. I think of the M3W as a classic British sportscar with a motorcycle engine. But the inevitable comparisons are going to be made. When a new brand comes to market, they'll take a shot at anything established and remotely similar. In this case I think a Morgan Three Wheeler would really dress up the sales floor. This thing looks like a dune buggy.

for whatever it's worth, here's the launch videos with all the details of the slingshot. not my cup of tea as i'd rather have an aerial atom if i was going this route but regardless i'll be curious if there's anything that can be learned from it from an engineering standpoint. going to watch the videos now and see how they are handling the drivetrain, etc

just went to their site and went to the configure a car section. man this thing is inexpensive by comparison to the three wheeler, $23,000 USD. that's less than half the cost of a morgan 3 wheeler.

again, not my cup of tea but you got to give the guys credit at that price point. would love to drive one

I'd like to drive one. The look is like a dune buggy that went F1 racing. It also weighs over 1,700 pounds wet and has ABS, traction control and stability control, not sure if that would add or subtract from the fun factor.
Totally different mind set then the Morgan. If I owned stock in the T-Rex factory, I would be worried, a T-Rex is over $50k.

The front track is also about 13" wider than the M3W, but with real car tires all around. They claim a very high G rating, so this thing probably handles corners very fast.

I wonder if they will come out with a "comfort kit" to improve steering?

I haven't seen the internal layout yet, but I imagine that it uses the stock GM 2.4L and front wheel drive 6 speed. It would be very easy to just lock the left side output and use just the right side axle output for the front drive sprocket. If this is the case, there would be no separate 90 degree gearbox, just a belt sprocket on a axial reinforced right side output from the transaxle assembly.

I have the same 2.4L and it's does run very well, albeit in a 3200# Buick.

I agree with others, it's not apples to apples for a comparison. I think both have their place and following. For the younger set, the Slingshot will be very attractive, especially at that price point.

From the Polaris web site it shows the drivetrain to be a longitudinal mounted inline four mounted to a standard 5 speed rear wheel drive transmission, drive shaft, 90* bevel box then to a final belt drive.

Very similar to the 3W (other than the engine)
